Approach to Substitutions

Approach to Substitutions

Some things that will impact how the substitutions go.

One factor is the score, Once we get to a 3-0 lead, I will start substituting every chance I can, and will put players in positions that they don’t normally play in order to keep from running up the score, it takes time off the clock, it gives players new experiences to help them grow, and it allows us more flexibility should a player get injured or miss a game to have players that already have tried out a position in a lopsided win.

Other factors that will impact substitutions are what formation are we playing, how many players I have that want to play a position and how many subs I have. If we have a full bench and I have 6 players that want to play mid-field and we have a formation with three midfielders, I will probably swap the entire midfield in and out together and try to wear out the other team by having fresh people running all over.

However, if I have only 1 sub, then the strategy changes to one of who needs a break and putting whoever is out in that spot. Based on our roster size I suspect we will be doing a “who is tired” sub pattern, rather than a “where do you want to play” pattern. But that leads me to the next topic.

Recruit your friends

We currently have 13 rostered players I think we can go to 18 players. At our current levels if everyone shows up we will have two subs. That is ok but leaves little room for vacations, and birthdays and school trips and other things that cause people to miss a game.

I would love to have about 3 more players.

So if you have a friend who has a 2006 or early 2007 birthday that would like to play with your player, registration is currently still open for our team
